Questions business owners ask us.
Can I switch accountants partway through the year?
Yes. You do not need to wait for your year end to change accountant. AFE picks up from where your previous accountant left off.
The main steps are set out under switching to AFE on this page. [CONFIRM: handover process with previous accountants]
Do I need an accountant to file my company accounts?
No law requires you to use an accountant. Directors are still responsible for filing accounts with Companies House and a Corporation Tax return with HMRC on time [VERIFY WITH HMRC / ADAM].
Many directors use an accountant so the filings are prepared correctly. AFE prepares and files them for you through accounts and bookkeeping.
What does an online accountant do for a limited company?
The same work as any accountant, mostly carried out remotely. That typically covers annual accounts, the Corporation Tax return, VAT returns, payroll and company secretarial filings.
AFE is remote-first and works with clients across the UK. Clients can also be seen in North London.
Can you work with my bookkeeping software?

Do you work with sole traders as well as limited companies?
Yes. AFE works with sole traders and limited companies. Sole traders usually need a Self Assessment return, while companies have accounts, Corporation Tax and company filings. If you are thinking of moving from one structure to the other, the team can compare both using your own figures before you decide.
How are your fees agreed?
